Padre was wonderful throughout. I arrived after 5 hours on freeway and was immediately welcomed by valet staff who were exceptionally kind and considerate. I immediately felt better after a long drive. Front desk was very helpful and I was checked in quickly. Room was great. Very comfortable stay.

The historic building is a treasure and downtown Bakersfield is much cleaner and revitalized as compared to my last visit 4 years ago. Nice to see since Bakersfield in general doesn’t always get the love it truly deserves given the draw of California’s bigger cities. The staff (Sara*front desk, Alexis*food services Mgr, Celeste*Farmacy cafe, Iman*Housekeeping John*bartender in Brimstone Bar) and overall service are what really makes the Padre a worthwhile experience. Only hotel for me in Bakersfield and worth every dollar. It’s great to see this once derelict edifice preserved and updated for a super cool country chic vibe. I would give 5 stars for room however there were some minor maintenance issues (normal wear & tear) which were remedied fairly quickly. Definitely stay here when visiting “The Bake”

My husband and I are coming back from the Grand Canyon on our way home to Santa Cruz. We needed to find a hotel in Bakersfield that was dog friendly. I just asked ChatGPT what was the best thing they sent us here. It was the most beautiful hotels, spectacular and everybody was so nice. . Cannot believe it's in Bakersfield! Who knew?

Anytime I'm in Bakersfield and need a room, The Padre is where you'll find me. Went to a show at the Fox Theater and I was so close I walked. The staff there is very attentive and prompt. The room was very nice and clean, however, there was a stench that smelled like bad plumbing i had to smell all night. Other than that, love this place!

Just perfect. The Padre team treated us like royalty for our anniversary. Much needed rest time. The Head Honcho Suite was everything we needed. In-room Jacuzzi was fantastic. Location is perfect for browsing and nighttime events. Just a great experience overall.

Rooms are very nice, not as clean as I expected. Someone’s Bobby-pin was on the floor which made me question the cleanliness. Spots on the chair, something white spilt, the ottoman was brown possibly from where ppl rest their feet. The staff was incredible! Great customer service! Food was pretty good at the restaurant & the cafe. The Barista at the cafe was very nice, made a great iced macha.

The Padre Hotel is my go-to whenever I’m in Bakersfield. It offers a great blend of historic character with modern comfort. The staff is outstanding, the bathrooms and showers are unique and the beds are extremely comfortable. The in-hotel restaurant is fantastic, and the hotel is surrounded by plenty of great dining options as well. The internet is impressively fast, much better than what you typically get at most hotel chains. My only suggestion would be upgrading to 4k/smart TVs to better match the otherwise modern experience. That said, I’ll continue to stay here every time I’m in Bakersfield. One of my favorite hotels.
